Model Context Protocol (MCP)
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI applications to external tools and data sources through a common interface, so one integration works with many AI apps.
An MCP server exposes tools ("search the database", "create an issue") or data; an MCP-compatible app or agent can discover and call them. It was introduced by Anthropic in 2024 and is supported by many AI tools.
